J.L. Tippett Construction Company, Inc. is pleased to announce that three more of its employees – Mike Ludwig, Edwin Melgar, and Steve Tippett – have recently achieved the prestigious Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC) designation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). The CLC program is a designation available from NARI and it is the only education and certification program for carpenters in the industry.
To become a NARI Certified Lead Carpenter, applicants must have been actively involved in the industry for a minimum of five years, with at least two years in a lead carpenter position. They must complete a qualification matrix detailing their background, related job experience, competency and commitment to quality work and ethical business practices. In addition, Mike, Edwin, and Steve became involved in an intensive study group program hosted by the exam. Participants of the Washington D.C. Chapter study group met in two-hour weekly sessions that ran for ten weeks. Applicants sat for a full-day NARI Certified Lead Carpenter written exam. Candidates’ exam scores, qualification matrices and letters of recommendation were evaluated by the NARI Certification Board, which decide upon approval or disapproval of each candidate. Each of Tippett Construction Company, Inc. CLCs will be required to recertify on an annual basis, fulfilling NARI’s re-certification educational requirements. The re-certification process ensures that J.L. Tippett Construction Company, Inc. stays abreast of industry trends and continues to follow sound project management practices. Mike, Edwin, and Steve become the sixth, seventh, and eighth employees of Tippett Construction to receive the CLC designation.
